This is a friendly, repertoire-building opportunity to play your new tunes slowly and work on your old tunes at a reasonable tempo. We will focus specifically on traditional Irish music, and all Irish-appropriate instruments are welcome (i.e. wooden flute, tin whistle, concertina, button or piano accordion, guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, fiddle, harp). We encourage tape recorders, and focus on learning tunes by ear. Music stands and continuous use of sheet music discouraged. Bring snacks to share. Led by Sean McCorkle.

John McCutcheon is simply one of our most respected and loved folksingers. Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, singer, storyteller, recording artist, producer, author, educator, and committed grassroots political activist, he is indeed “Virginia’s rustic Renaissance man” (the Washington Post). But it is in live performance that John feels most at home, whether in a major concert hall or theater, in an elementary school auditorium, on a festival stage, or at a farm rally. Whether in print, on record, or on stage, few people communicate with the versatility, charm, wit, or pure talent of this man. folkmusic.com
