Improve your ability to apply the elements of music to everyday listening and playing : music appreciation, jamming, learning a song, composition. We’ll learn to think musically and play using the ideas of form, rhythm, melody and harmony. Our particular focus will be using traditional forms most fretted players will encounter : reels, breakdowns, waltzes, jigs, blues, songs, etc. Bring your fretted instrument and we’ll practice and apply these concepts at each class. Ability to read music not needed for this class, although helpful.

Jamcrackers — Live at Old Songs

Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 7:30 pm9:30 pm EDT
Old Songs Community Arts Center, 37 S Main St
Voorheesville, NY 12186 United States

Dan Berggren, Peggy Lynn, and Dan Duggan have combined talents to create Jamcrackers, named in honor of the river drivers who broke up log jams. Those drivers worked hard to find solutions, to get things rolling again, and they couldn’t do the job alone. These three feel the same way about their music. With guitars and dulcimer (and other instruments), the trio showcases unique arrangements and striking harmonies as they present a diverse blend of folk and blues, ballads, gospel, and dance tunes.

The concert will be held in person at the Old Songs building (37 S Main in Voorheesville) and live-streamed on the Old Songs YouTube Channel.
