Cassie & Maggie MacDonald
Nova Scotians Cassie & Maggie MacDonald have found the perfect balance between musical integrity and sheer entertainment. While staying true to their Celtic roots, they explore and test the boundaries of traditional music, bringing a breath of fresh air to the genre with their original compositions and arrangements. Cassie (on fiddle) and Maggie (on piano and guitar) are always at home, whether playing tunes passed down through generations of musicians or seamlessly weaving themes from the Moonlight Sonata into sets of sure-fire reels.

Old Songs Community “Barn” Dance with Spare Parts
1st Saturday of the Month (November–May)
Fun, simple dances from the U.S. and around the world. For every age and ability. All dances will be taught and will include circles, contras and squares. Yummy desert potluck during intermission.

African Drum Class
3rd Monday of the Month (Sept.–June)
Study African drumming. Participants will learn authentic drumming from many countries in West Africa. Emphasis will be on traditional rhythms & drumming techniques on djembes, dunduns & other hand drums. Please join us for this fun filled class. All levels are welcomed. Some drums may be available to borrow on a first come, first served basis. Instructor John Dickson.

A concert of New York State’s hidden history in a performance of authentic songs used to persuade, rally and celebrate as sung by women and men during the American Women’s Suffrage Movement. Songs which range from humorous to poignant, from strident marches to hymns, and popular parlor songs. With enlightening narrative, and songs that women sang during the suffrage movement between 1848 and 1920, this dynamic 50 minute performance tells the story of the New York women who worked to reform the inequality of women in the new America. Old Songs is a family-friendly festival of folk, traditional, Celtic and world music and dance, known for its relaxed atmosphere, interactive sessions and workshops, hands-on experience and participatory nature.
